Animesh is a PhD student in the LSE Department of Economics, and affiliated with the CEP. He has previously held research and policy positions at the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC), and J-PAL South Asia. Animesh holds an MA in Research Methods from the University of Chicago, and a BTech in Materials Science Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His research interests are in development, environment and IO.
Since 2021, Arcade has been a Project Manager for the Farmer Development Project. He has more than 10 years’ experience in social and market research in Rwanda, Burundi and DRC, working with local and international research organisations. Currently based in Kigali, Arcade has a BSc in Agriculture, and is undertaking an MBA alongside his work.
Since 2023, Everygiste has worked as field manager for the Farmer Development Project. He has 3 years' experience in environmental development. Everygiste holds a BSc in Soil and Environmental Management from the University of Rwanda.
Jimme is a project manager on the Farmer Development Project, based in Kigali, Rwanda. Jimme holds a BSc in Economics and Econometrics from Erasmus Rotterdam and an MSc in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics from the London School of Economics. His research interests are at the intersection of development, education, and inequality.
Lucía is a research assistant focused on relational sourcing and corporate responsibility within global supply chains. She holds a BSc and MSc in Economics Universidad de los Andes. Before joining as a research assistant, Lucía worked variously at the The University of Chicago, the World Justice Project, and the Centre for Economic Development Studies in Bogotá. Her research experience spans international trade, economic history, gender, and labour.
Miguel is a PhD candidate in Economics at LSE. His research interests span development economics, political economy and industrial organisation. Prior to joining LSE's PhD Economics programme, Miguel attained a distinction in the MSc Economics programme at LSE, and a BSc in Economics from LMU Munich.
Mohamed is currently a Research Fellow at LSE. He completed his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Sussex in 2022. His research focuses on microfinance and relational contracts in various agricultural settings in East Africa. He has expertise in impact evaluations in partnership with international organizations (e.g., IFAD), academic institutions (e.g., LSE and IDS), and NGOs (e.g., Heifer International).
Regis is a dedicated Operations Manager at the Farmer Development Project, focusing on optimizing call center operations through innovative technology solutions. He leads a team of call center agents to provide seamless connectivity and efficient support to farmers who call the team. He is in-charge of monitoring the data systems associated with the call center. He also assists the research team in the organization of surveys, data collection, and translation.
Oliver Seager is an economics PhD student at Boston University. He was Research Manager for Rocco Macchiavello at the LSE Department of Management for the 2023/24 academic year. He holds a BSc in Economics, Statistics and Mathematics from Queen Mary University of London and a MSc in Economics from LSE. His research interests include supply chain resilience, industrial organisation, and innovation. He is now pursuing a PhD in Economics at Boston University.
Hilaire was a Field Research Manager on the Farmer Development Project, based in Kigali, for the 2023/24 academic year. He holds a bachelor's degree in Physics from Ecole Polytechnique in France and a master's degree in Economics and Management from the London School of Economics. Hilaire recently relocated to his native Paris to pursue a career in the private sector.
Valerie is a Masters student at the Barcelona School of Economics. She previously worked as a researcher for Prof. Rocco Macchiavello, based in Costa Rica. Valerie holds a degree in Economics from the University of Costa Rica. Her passion lies in the field of development economics and public policy, along with a keen interest in data analysis.
Fabrizio worked alongside Prof. Macchiavello whilst a PhD student, visiting the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is currently a research fellow at the Bank of Italy in Rome. His research interests span international trade and industrial organization, focusing on multinational enterprises, value chains, and technological change.
Aishwarya Rebelly is a former Research Manager at the LSE Department of Management, a post she held for the 2022/23 academic year. Before joining the Department of Management in London, Aishwarya worked in Rwanda as a field research manager for the implementation of an RCT. She holds an MSc in Development Management with a specialisation in Applied Development Economics from LSE. Her research interests lie at the intersection of public policy, development economics and applied microeconomics. She is now based in India, working as a field researcher for Michael Kremer at The University of Chicago.
Since September 2023, Cécile has been an economics PhD student at the European University Institute. She was a Field Research Manager for the Farmer Development Program project, based in Kigali, Rwanda. She holds an MSc in Economic and Social Science from Bocconi University, and is mainly interested in development economics especially related to gender and agriculture.
Madhav is an economics PhD student at Columbia Business School, with an interest in firms, and their role in economic development. He has worked with the International Growth centre in Myanmar, and was previously on the MPhil economics program at Oxford.
Athina Valiouli received a BA in Economics and Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley in 2019. She worked as a Research Manager at the LSE Department of Management for the 2021/22 academic year. She subsequently joined LSE's Hub for Equal Representation (H.E.R.) as a pre-doctoral researcher, working alongside Professors Oriana Bandiera, Camille Landais and Nina Rousille.
Ariana obtained a BSc in Economics from the University of Costa Rica in 2018. After graduation, she collaborated on a research project led by Alonso Alfaro, Isabela Manelici and José Pablo Vásquez, during her internship at the CR's Central Bank (BCCR). Later, she worked at the McKinsey Global Institute for a year and then as a Young Professional at SAP. Before starting her masters in International Economics, with a focus in Development, at the Geneva Graduate Institute, she joined the project between LSE and the Costa Rican Coffee Institute (ICAFÉ). More recently, she has assisted additional projects on Better Work and the global garments agenda.
